Area Attractions
From carriage rides and rare antiques to lake cruises, Lake Geneva offers a wealth of options. Take a historic walking tour, browse art galleries, find unique gifts, or catch the latest movie in town. The Lake Geneva area features captivating nature preserves, mansions and the crown jewel, sparkling Geneva Lake. Explore it on foot, along the 20-mile path that borders its shores, or on a leisurely cruise. Whenever you visit, our area festivals will help you celebrate the seasons.
Historic Mansions
Lake Geneva boasts a remarkable number of opulent mansions, both contemporary and historic. Some are on the National Register of Historic Places and include homes once owned by prominent American business names, including the Wrigley, Montgomery Ward and Sears families.
Geneva Lake Cruises
Join the 130-year-old tradition of touring Wisconsin's second largest (and second deepest) lake. Sail aboard Lake Geneva Cruise Line's historic reproductions reminiscent of the steamboats that once traveled this very lake. Take a luncheon cruise or the famous Mailboat Tour, the only mail delivery of its type in the country. Seasonally, for over 130 years, it has departed each morning with an adventurous Mailperson who leaps off the boat onto residents' piers, deposits mail and grabs outgoing mail, and jumps back aboard. The only catch is, the boat never stops!
Watson Wild West Museum
Ten minutes from Lake Geneva, you can visit the Wild West -- in the Midwest. Visit the general store packed with cowboy memorabilia, drink an ice cold sarsaparilla (root beer) in the saloon, and even pan for gold at this unique General Store. Open from May through October.
East Troy Electric Railroad
A short drive from Lake Geneva, you can ride a historic trolley along Wisconsin's last original electric railroad line. Dining trips, a gift shop and exhibits are also available. Open seasonally from May to October.
Yerkes Observatory
Visit the world's largest refracting telescope at this research branch of the University of Chicago 's Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
